I’d been wanting to try out one of the polyurethane models for quite a while, as I’ve only ever used the leather one I bought on iPad 2 launch day.
I took the new smart cover out of its box two minutes ago, and figured I should grab a photo of it while it as clean as it will ever be. So far I quite like the dark gray – though it’s too soon to make any comparisons on using the polyurethane as opposed to the leather one of course.
If I spot any interesting differences in using this new model I’ll be sure to share some thoughts on them here.

With the holiday season just around the corner, handset manufacturers are counting on a strong finish to the 2011 sales year. And with smartphones and other mobile gadgets likely topping millions of wish lists this December, it’s a fairly feasible expectation.
But of all of the tech companies in the mobile market, Apple likely has the most riding on a successful fourth quarter; considering it forecasted nearly billion dollars ( billion higher than any previous quarter) in revenue for the three month period…(…) Read the rest of Apple Gearing Up for a Billion Dollar Holiday Season

OK, it’s going to take something very special to knock this idea out of first place for the Best iPad Related Halloween Costume. It uses two iPads – one in front and one in back, with a Facetime session setup between them – along with a liberal dosing of fake blood around the ‘wound’ areas.
This creates the effect of having a huge hole in your stomach – as the front iPad displays live video from the back one, and vice versa.
It’s the creation of Mark Rober, a NASA employee – offering further proof that those NASA guys are pretty damn clever – even when they’re not building spaceships, but just goofing around for Halloween.
It appears Apple’s Mac OS X team is working on integrating two of iOS’s biggest features into Mac OS X, with iMessage and AirPlay mirroring apparently in the pipeline.
According to 9to5Mac’s sources, the Mac OS X team at Apple is currently working on ways to make both technologies part of a future Lion update, though there are no guarantee that the features will ever see the light of day.
iMessage in particular has been long rumored to be the replacement for iChat we’ve been waiting for, but AirPlay mirroring could potentially change the way presentations are given using a Mac…(…) Read the rest of Apple Reportedly Set to Bring AirPlay Mirroring and iMessage to the Mac
According to “sources familiar with the future of Mac OS X”, AirPlay Mirroring and iMessage are both set to make an appearance in the not too distant future. The sources, talking to 9to5Mac claim that both of these applications are in development although they could be shelved just as easily.
AirPlay Mirroring would certainly be a welcome addition to the Mac OS X platform, allowing a user to mirror the screen of their Mac without the need for an expensive projector. You could see Apple TV’s popping up in company boardrooms attached to smaller LCD panels.
iMessage may be introduced into the current iChat application after references were discovered in its code. No firm decision has been made yet and it may even end up as a standalone application. According to the source, both solutions are being developed. iMessage would allow a Mac user to message any iOS device for free.
It makes a lot of sense for Apple to offer these features on the Mac OS X platform, it now looks like it is going to happen in a future update.
The popular SemiTether jailbreak was updated to v0.9.1 this morning, and it’s quite the update.
Working with Saurik, the team was able to fully incorporate the new mobile substrate, which allowed them to get rid of the daemon patching and restarting.
Mobile substrate now does all of the heavy lifting when it comes to the SemiTether. There’s even an option to patch Safari to work in non-jailbreak mode now.
