Wireless would certainly be the most portable; I assume portability is important because you have a laptop. Cable is great; fast and no phone required. Wireless requires extra security measures, but nothing that’s hard to get or unaffordable. You can do wired or wireless as you choose with Cable.

While I can’t give you pricing info, all you need is a wireless access point; a wireless adapter and the ability to read instructions. It’s not hard; it’s designed to facilitate setup by folks who aren’t computer geniuses. Go to any CompUSA, Office Depot, Best Buy, etc. They’ll help you purchase the right equipment and give tips on installation.

Wireless or Wired with your cable company is great either way. And you do not need a regular home phone. Contact your cable company and request installation of High Speed internet, they may also have a wireless router you can purchase or lease directly from them, or you can purchase one from your local Wal Mart, I purchased the Belkin Wireless G for around $40.00. The CD included will guide you through the setup process. Also, your cell phones can be used as modems as well, all you need is the data cable for your particular brand of phone, the added benefit to this is the easier storage, editing and removal of your contacts and other info on your cell phone.

Yes go with Cable Internet, and get a wireless router. This way you can use the internet anywhere in your home, you don’t need a land line phone. When you call your cable company tell them you want internet and some of them will offer a wireless router with the actual cable modem. most laptops have wireless cards built into them too, so when you turn the laptop on the internet will practically just work for you!

most laptops come with wireless anyway so it doesnt really matter.If it doesnt have wireless dont get it. Get you a wireless cable modem and you can use your computer anywhere in the house

you can get a good wireless cable modem for about 60 bucks.

You can’t go wireless with out an access point. You could get cable internet through your cable provider.
You could also get internet access through your cell phone provider, but it would be very expensive if you used it much.

Use cable broadband to get your internet into the house. It is very fast. If you so choose, you could by a wireless router that can send the internet signal throughout your house wirelessly. The router costs about 50$, depending on make and model.

You only need a standard hard-wired phone for ADSL. Cable Internet using your cable TV coax, or for remote areas satellite Internet is an alternative. Other ideas are to get your neighbors to let you use their WiFi system (you can share the cost; I know of no cable provider that has objected where a couple of families share). Or you can subscribe to various wireless services like T-mobiles, if you’re within range or don’t mind going to a Starbucks.

Wireless Internet using cell towers is, I think, expensive in most places.

You can get a cellular adapter – assuming there’s cellphone coverage where you’ll be. This is like a cellphone for your computer (some phones and carriers sell a cable for your existing cellphone to do this)

The only drawback is these usually have a pricy plan and you have to subscribe for 1-2 years of service at a time…there may be something similar for satellite but it would be even more expensive if you can find one.

Otherwise you’ll have to tolerate dial-up or find a hotspot…

There are more hot spots out there than you think. Search the exact area.
The other thing to do might be to get a mobile card, but that’s expensive to sign a contract for that just for 2 week use.
Call the Apple Store and ask for suggestions too.

Usally if you go the mall, theres a lot of little stores, and most cases a few of them sellcell phone face plates, flashing attenas, and charms etc. You one of those types of stores, or
try eBay.
